Course introduction

This HANDS-ON course provides you with the skills to deploy, install and maintain secure Ubuntu Servers within and enterprise infrastructure. The course focuses on advanced implementation of services in the 'Ubuntu Way'. The emphasis is on command line usage and the course doesn't teach the use of graphical tools. Extensive lab exercises on a multi-server virtual machine environment reinforce the topics taught. This course is based on the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS release.

Object

The Ubuntu Server course is aimed at Intermediate ot Advanced System Administrators who already have at least 5+ years experience with UIX, RedHat and other Linux distributions and iwhs to transfer those skills to Ubuntu Server. The course is not intended for those with only a Microsoft System Administration background.

Objective

• Establish server administration environment in enterprise.
• Use advanced Debian package management tool.
• Remote monitoring on server status.
• Deploy backup strategy.
• Deploy a virtual machine with KVM.
• Manage directory service and identification with OpenLDAP and Kerberos.
• Maintain server security.
